Almost every family does it: a parent lets a young kid press the wall button to close the garage door because it feels like a small, safe responsibility. It keeps the kid occupied, it feels harmless, and most people assume the door will just stop if something's in the way. That assumption is the problem. Auto-reverse only works if the sensors are clean, aligned, and actually functioning — and a lot of garage doors in daily use don't meet that bar.
